Kyōdō means creating something together. I wanted each song to feel like a meeting point – where different artists, cultures, and ideas can flow together and grow into something new. This is Part 1 and I can’t wait to share the rest with you, too.
THE RELEASE
Apr 27 - Nahokimama, Monsieur Teddy - Underpass
May 26 - Kyōdō, Pt. 1 EP
Japanese trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Nahokimama steps into a new chapter with Kyōdō, her first solo-led project after a series of successful releases alongside her husband, the neo-soul guitarist Toshiki Soejima. Meaning “collaboration” or “doing together” in Japanese, Kyōdō is a trilogy of EPs where Nahokimama & Stereofox invite producers and musicians from across the globe to shape each piece together – exploring how different artistic worlds intersect, overlap, and expand through shared creativity.
Kyōdō Pt. 1 brings together a diverse circle of collaborators – US producer Nitsua, German beatmaker B-Side, French bassist and producer Monsieur Teddy, and fellow Japanese producer Refeeld. Through Nahokimama’s expressive trumpet lines, the project becomes a meeting point for jazz & beats, with each collaborator’s unique touch on the production.
The visual identity is vibrant, featuring intertwining currents and floating seed-like elements symbolizing the exchange of ideas between artists. At its center stands a sprout, representing new beginnings and the growth of Nahokimama’s own artistic brand. The single artworks expand this into a triptych, animated in a continuous flow – a metaphor for the endless movement of collaboration, creativity, and life itself.
