Antidote is the title for my debut album because I felt I got lost in the music industry. During the past years, I’ve been compromising my sound/music too much and getting distracted from what music should really be about for me. So this album is original music that I really feel, without being limited by the industry. Antidote is the title to this album referring to making healthy music again. I also dedicate this album to my grandfather, whom I unfortunately never had the chance to meet. He was the musician in my family and I saw that as inspiration.

Donkeychote’s upcoming debut album Antidote sees the beatmaker embrace a live aesthetic while blending chillhop textures with a hazy, psychedelic indie flair.
The producer and multi-instrumentalist has not only been playing guitar since he was 15, but also became well-versed in genres such as neo-soul, r&b, hip hop, jazzhop, and indie for years. By incorporating these influences into his beats, he’s created a distinctive sound that’s earned him editorial playlist features across DSPs and collaborations with artists like Awon.
Throughout his career, however, Donkeychote became pulled into music industry politics and started to lose his way. The creation of Antidote serves as his saving grace, as this project led him to make music that feels pure to him, without being heavily influenced by the pressure of industry demands. It’s warm, soulful, and built around a theme of organic instrumentation that feels raw and unfiltered, where imperfections become valuable.
Tracks like “Soulmate” and “Cygnets” possess a calming appeal while feeling cinematic thanks to their emotive progressions. From slick guitar solos to uplifting brass arrangements, throughout the numerous singles on Antidote, we’re welcomed to moments of musical opulence that showcase Donkeychote flair once musically uninhibited. This album tells a story of a man lost, yet finding the essence of what brings him joy through his ultimate passion.
