Listening to pioneers like D’Angelo and Erykah Badu was so inspiring that I knew I wanted to make something that resembles their sound. “Smile” is a track that I think combines all the right elements for a proper neo-soul vibe – live syncopated drums, chopped rhodes & bass, and a saturated but warm overall sound. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper neo-soul track without some silky smooth vocals, so when Quincy joined, it was a flawless match! This one is the perfect late night mood you need in your life.
