There is a Japanese phrase, “Gyounryusui” which means “like a cloud, like flowing water”. This EP is inspired by this saying – and because of the more freedom & varied work I can do under my new artistic project.

THE RELEASE
Nov 12 - Blooming
Dec 10 - flow with the tide EP (focus on Floating Liquid)
The established jazz pianist & composer Hiroaki Watanabe, more widely known as re:plus, returns with the 2nd project of his new moniker.
As physis, he explores the intersection between lofi, chillhop, and jazz – still keeping his wonderful piano compositions but layering them on top of boom bap & instrumental hip-hop drums in various moods. He explains, “As a musician with re:plus, I have been fortunate to have many listeners, but not everything has gone as planned, and in fact, not everything has turned out as I expected. It is important to be particular, but I realized that being too particular is also reducing my own potential and my own world. That is why I have started a free production under the name of physis with a larger perspective.”
flow with the tide EP is a collection of 5 songs, continuing the concept of his previous Life EP – exploring the complexities of our existence; but also building on the themes of freedom & moving with life’s natural course.
This project is a little gentler, flowing effortlessly through a meticulous blend of jazzy keys, warm brass, and soft drums. There are 2 upfront singles – the delicate “Morning Glory”, named after the flower, and the more playful, jazzy “Blooming”.
