The EP Follow Me marks my return to old-school live studio production, without overdoing the production, essentially preserving the spirit of the music.
Paxkalito
Each track is a conversation between the trumpet and the keyboard, with the bass and drums holding down the groove, just like a jazz band playing in a club, but with a lofi beats touch.
THE RELEASE
May 28th - The Dreamer / Morning Mist
Jul 1st - Follow Me EP
French trumpet player Paxkalito makes his debut on Stereofox Records with Follow Me – a 6-track EP in collaboration with keyboardist Albert Miguez. Rooted in the spirit of live performance, the project blends jazzy lofi beats with smooth jazz-leaning songwriting, capturing the spontaneity of musicians creating something together from scratch.
At its core, Follow Me is built on conversation. Each track unfolds like a dialogue between trumpet and keys, supported by basslines and groove-driven drums – reminiscent of a jazz quartet in an intimate club setting. The production remains intentionally minimal, allowing the instruments to shine through. This preserves the human touch and subtle imperfections that give the music its character.
Inspired by the legacy of Miles Davis’ quintet, the EP leans into muted trumpet tones, flugelhorn textures, and laid-back tempos, with melodies shaped like modern jazz standards. The result is a comforting, timeless sound – relaxed yet expressive, familiar yet fresh. With Follow Me, Paxkalito invites listeners into a space where jazz tradition meets the contemporary approach to chill music, offering a soundtrack for slow moments, quiet evenings, and effortless reflection.
THE ARTIST
Paxkalito
Paxkalito began his musical journey playing the trumpet and discovered jazz as a teenager, influenced by Miles Davis and Chet Baker. A professional trumpeter based in France for many years, playing with several live bands, Paxkalito wanted to compose and perform his own music, blending jazz and hip-hop beats. He strives to play and record all instruments live to maintain a natural groove.
