The EP is a reflection of our journey. From the first moment we met online in 2018, to our first studio sessions in 2023 and the countless late night collaboration sessions in different time zones. We couldn’t be more proud to showcase what we’ve created alongside some of the most talented artists we know and have the pleasure to work with.
El Train & goodie bags
THE RELEASE
Mar 21th - "Superstar"
Apr 10th - Drift EP
The seed of Drifting was planted way back in 2019 when El Train stumbled upon a video of goodie bags playing the trumpet. Some may call it luck, we call it destiny. It wasn’t long before the two artists discovered their shared versatility and felt an instant connection.
After a faithful meeting in person in Europe in 2023 the two started building the foundations of what Drifting is today. The next 18 months were filled with travels between the UK and LA where goodie bags resides and lots of endless collaboration sessions across time zones.
The 5-track EP is the culmination of that journey – a melting pot of influences, emotions, and global sounds, enriched by a number of incredible artists who have joined El Train and goodie bags on this international journey.
The EP kicks off with a lush fairy tale “Against the Tide” featuring mesmerizing South London-based singer Pollena and legendary pianist Cara Tivey, known for her work with Billy Bragg and had performed with Blue. Pollena is set to perform at Grow (London) on Feb 7th and has previously been supported on Spotify’s OFF POP and Indie Dancefloor selections.
After that, we’re treated to an intimate showcase of El Train and goodie bags’ instrumental skills with the lightness of “Solstice” and its ability to create an intimate and nurturing sonic environment.
If you’re looking to explore hazy late afternoon r&b vibrations, look no further than “Sun Goes Down” featuring Miki Rose. The LA-based singer/songwriter Miki Rose, originally from Brighton, UK, has lived across cities like Paris, Boston, and Kuala Lumpur, drawing influence from neo-soul icons like Erykah Badu and D’Angelo before attending Berklee and pursuing her dreams in LA. A force to be reckoned with.
Drenched in reverberated brass sounds courtesy of goodie bags, “Superstar” featuring a Stereofox favourite, Ruby Wood, is your gateway to pure happiness. The talented singer/songwriter is best known as the lead vocalist of Submotion Orchestra and has collaborated with artists like Bonobo, Bryson Tiller, Alfa Mist, and Krept & Konan.
A sonic journey is nothing without a proper groovy stop and that key milestone takes the form of “Without You” featuring the gifted New York native Laatrice Lynz. A song that speaks for El Train’s love for Kaytra-style grooves and is a solid candidate for any summer-driven selections as the weather is getting warmer.
