Remedy is one of those tracks that had to wait until I was ready to finish it. The kalimba melody has been with me for years – it was originally part of an early idea called Paladin, but back then I couldn’t execute it in the same way I’ve been able to now. I kept coming back to it, along with a chopped Senegalese vocal I’d also held onto from another abandoned idea. A few weeks ago, I tried them together and something clicked – the combination gave me exactly the feeling I’d been chasing. I’ve got no idea what the vocal is saying, and I like it that way. It leaves the meaning of the track open to interpretation. To me, it captures a healing, ritualistic feeling. That’s where the name came from – not a literal cure, but more like a feeling of something rising from within. It moves from earthy and atmospheric to something more dancefloor-ready, and I wanted it to feel both grounded and charged, like a fire building.
