San Mateo Drive

San Mateo Drive is a melodic house project by American producer, musician, and multi-instrumentalist Mateo Gonzalez. His artist name and melodically-driven road trip & sunset rooftop vibes are inspired by his time living and traveling along the Northern California coastline.

Blending a nostalgic feel with a melodically mature and progressive sound shaped by his upbringing as a classically-trained violinist, he believes that with the right music you’ll either “forget everything or remember everything”. He’s received support from the likes of Nora En Pure, Sultan + Shepard, and Jerro on each of their respective SiriusXM Chill radio shows.

Originating from just outside of New York City, he spent a number of years honing his craft and DJing throughout NYC. Although San Mateo Drive has been producing music electronically since early 2012, his musical journey actually began back at the age of 10 when he first started taking violin lessons and then later taught himself the guitar. These acoustic instrument influences can be heard throughout his music, including this record.
