“River’s Flow is a solemn ode to time spent alone in nature, or in the company of a great friend. Detached from civilisation breathing fresh air while listening to the gushing river – that’s the image we had in mind while creating this. As for the actual making of the song, I sent Blossum a draft for a track, some simple drums, guitar and synth chords. We discussed the concept for the beat, and with that in mind he added sfx, percussion and synth melody lines. When I got it back I finalised the structure and added a few transitional sounds. All in all, I think the track captures a contemplative vibe, while balancing somewhere between playful and relaxing.”

Blossum (Torsten Dam Nielsen) is a 28-year-old self-taught musician/producer from Denmark who, with his steady head-nodding beats, blends genres such as hip hop, jazz, funk and r&b. His use of organic instruments, combined with synthetic and ambient elements, mixes together to create a vivid palette of soundscapes, filled with colourful harmonies and lush melodies.
THE ARTIST
Axian
Axian’s music bucks many of lo-fi hip-hop’s clichés: the overuse of the same few samples, the 45-second songs, and the splicing of cartoon dialogue onto beats. His sound – while undeniably influenced by lo-fi – is built off denser, more melodic samples, punchier, more organic drums – as well as his instrumentation, involving Rhodes keys, synths, guitars or horns. This is evident on albums like Chronos and Andromeda where his inspirations from jazz and lo-fi shine through.
